Rifle Guided Wilderness Pack-in Hunting

This is the ultimate in elk hunting. The way elk should be hunted! No high fences to bound you or the elk,  just miles of seemingly endless elk habitat. There is no greater hunting accomplishment than having harvested a wilderness bull elk. Pack-in elk hunts are our specialty. We raise and train most all of our stock for the rigors of this type of hunt. All of our equipment is top notch and has been field tested, tried and true in the wilderness. Having outfitted in these same areas for over 20 years we have become very accustomed to the patterns of this particular herd.  Oftentimes we know how they are going to react before they do. Action Adventures is a full time outfitter and elk hunting is what we do best.

Our guided camps are in a Limited Draw Unit that takes several years to draw a tag. This works out well because this popular hunt books up several years in advance. If you are looking for a truly exceptional Colorado Rifle Hunt planning ahead and getting a tag in a limited unit is well worth the wait.

You will be provided with a well outfitted camp, two home cooked meals, and a sack lunch each day. 1 knowledgeable guide per two hunters will assist you on your adventure. This trip is 5 days of hunting and 1 day of travel at each end for a total of 7 days. As with all of our trips nothing is spared to ensure your complete satisfaction.

Wilderness Pack-in Drop Camps

A great hunt for the do-it-yourself hunter. Traditional wall tent camp packed deep into the Uncompahgre Wilderness. We supply the camp (sleeping tent, cook tent with complete kitchen, cots, lanterns, wood stoves plus the wood is even cut and split. We pack you in and out, check on you mid week and pack your game out as you get it. You furnish your own food and guide yourself (we provide you with topo maps and GPS coordinates of the best spots). 

This drop camp is in an over-the-counter tag unit, but is situated right on the border of a limited unit so the hunting is quite good. If you already have Colorado Preference Points or you book your trip several years in advance we can set your drop camp in the limited trophy unit. This trip is 6 days of hunting with 2 days in advance to scout and 1 day to pack out.

Rifle Private Land Elk and Mule Deer Hunting

This is one of the best combination elk and deer hunts you will find. There are also a large number of black bears in the early seasons. This productive ranch is completely behind locked gates. This hunt is a hybrid of a guided hunt and a drop camp. You are provided with lodging, 2 home cooked meals, along with a sack lunch each day, pack horses, and a guide in camp to show you the ranch, plus GPS coordinates of the best spots. This hunt allows you the freedom of a drop camp, to hunt on your own without all the cooking and camp chores. You will hunt out of our private ranch that also accesses several thousand acres of land locked national forest. The lower end of the ranch adjoins a remote state wildlife area. All you have to do is concentrate on bagging that big bull. You are outfitted with everything you need to have a successful hunt. If you like the challenge of elk hunting on your own with all the extras of a full service hunt without the high price tag, this is the one for you. Comparable guided hunts would run in excess of $5000. These are great hunts for the veteran hunter and novice alike. You will have a comfortable cabin to stay in and the finest in home cooked meals. Anyone filling their tags early can fish for rainbows and brookies in our private lake. The ranch can be reached by 4WD, and provides a great opportunity for those that can't get around like they use to. There are miles of road less forest for those wanting to hunt this remote unspoiled area.

Late Season Cow Elk Hunting

If you prefer elk steak in the freezer over antlers on the wall then here is your hunt. This trip is on private land accessible by 4 wheel drive only. The private land sits above a state wildlife area where many elk winter. To get to the wildlife area the elk must first pass through our ranch. This gives you the perfect opportunity to go home with some meat. This trip is 4 days of hunting and is unguided. We provide you with a cozy well equipped cabin. Transportation, meals, and hunting is up to you. We will show you around the ranch and aide you in retrieving down game.
